When Liam became a serial killer (please don't take it too seriously)
After a break of almost three months, which I only interrupt once or twice, I continued yesterday my little series about Liam on Instagram.
Over the past few weeks, I've been working intensively on an interview Liam gave in 1997 at the premiere of "Michael Collins" . The interview lasts about an hour and I've listened to it almost daily. I still listen to this interview regularly because I still discover beautiful and interesting things that Liam talks about in it. The beginning, where he talks about Michael Collins, is particularly interesting, and you can see how much Liam cares about his role model.
It was and it is primarily to improve my listening comprehension of the English language and to convey the little stories Liam tells in the interview as accurately as possible. It's a very nice and interesting interview. I will not reproduce the interview in It's normal order, but only in the passages that I wrote down when I had a pen and my notepad with me. I usually sit down in a Café, drink a coffee or on a bench in nature (of course, if the weather is good) , have my headphones on and listen to the interview.
In my first part of the interview, Liam talks about his first time in Hollywood and how he had to fight for every role.
The interview was conducted by Charlie Rose, who was known for his show "60 Minutes" , in which he interviewed sumerous celebrities.
At one point, Rose asked Liam: " So you came to Hollywood and you began to do which films?"
Liam answered," Well I was, ... I had these these fabulous young agent Harrison Goldberg and I remember before him a night. I called him up and I said to him ' Look I have money to live for five or six weeks. Seriously in a cheap hotel. I do not want to be sitting in that hotel room during the day. Just keep me out. I'll meet anybody you know.' And he did were true to the word and , the next moment, I sat in a casting audition with native American, holding spears and stuff, you know."
" So I don't know and they don't know. I'm up at the same part. "
"I'm Irish, but , Yeah, I can play native American, of course. I want to work. So! And I told them like ' Don't tell the people I'm Irish. You just say I'm European. That's you know it's okay'. I used to think you're going to come in with a hard jounty heart and a bottle of wiskey and, and giving all this stuff, you know. You don't tell them. So we did lots of that and then and I got a cast in on an ABC movie of the week. I'm playing a serial killer with Dabney Coleman and Peter Coyote alongside called "Sworm to Silence". The paid me a certain amount of money . It was three weeks that's the lenght of time the shot these Film. So that afforded me like another two months to be able to stay in Hollywood, You know. And then works breeds worked. So I just started getting bits and pieces,"
"Sworm to Silence" was produced in 1987 for ABC as a movie of the week and based on New York serial killer Robert Garraw's life. The names and locations were changed due to intellectual property rights. The movie lasted one and a half hours and was directed by Peter Levin. The release date was 1987 and Liam's character was called Vincent Cauley.
