Liam und Michael Collins

I think every fan knows that Michael Collins is one of Liam's role models.
For me personally, at school, Michael Collins was just a small episode in history class.
Yesterday I was looking for a little informative story for my own little series about Liam, called One Photo, One Story, and found an interview from 1996 that was republished in 2022 to mark the 100th anniversary of Michael Collins' death. A beautiful, honest and worth reading interview that Liam gave to a British newspaper and shows how much knowl.edge this man has.
In one segment, Liam talked about what it was like hearing about De Valera and Michael Collins as a young boy :
"My mother was born and crew up in Waterford, a city in the south of Ireland, which is also known as the oldest city of Ireland. My grandmother was a devotee of Dev (who was played in the movie by Alan Rickman). As a young boy I often heard the names De Valeria and Collins promounced. Alway in a hushed voice and with a hand in frond of their mouth. I can still remember how the relatives talking like that. When they talked about Collins and De Valera, I had the feeling that they were in the next room or lived in the house next door ", told Liam in a 1996 interview to the movie "Michael Collins " ,and continued," To this day, they are still spoken of passionately in parts of Ireland ...'Collins, oh, he was a traitor. Dev, oh, he didn't do this'. The sign-post to Michael Collins birthplace is occasionally still graffitied over. So there's still that thing. Anything,  that would kind of explain the hushed tones. I only started to take on interest in Irish history when I was 18 or 19 years of age. Only then did I understand the connections and the historical background of Collins and De Valera."
A nice and interesting section in the interview, as are the other sections, which are very pleasant to read.

A Liam, a chara, bhain mé an-taitneamh as an agallamh seo a léamh. Is breá liom i gcónaí agallaimh a léamh uait. Cuireann sé mo chuid fadhbanna agus imní féin orm.  Ba mhaith liom buíochas a ghabháil leat as an oiread sin chuimhneacháin áille a chuir isteach orm. Cé nach bhfuil a fhios agat sin i ndáiríre. Ach an t-am seo ar fad chuir mé isteach i mo chuid oibre agus rinne mé taighde a chuir tú stop orm ó bheith ag déanamh rudaí dúr. Go raibh maith agat, tá sé go deas go bhfuil tú ann.
Le do thoil, a Liam Neeson, a chara, tabhair aire an-mhaith duit féin agus fan sláintiúil.
Tá súil agam go dtig linn bualadh le chéile go luath agus cupán tae a bheith againn le chéile. Sin uile is mian liom
❤️🇮🇪🍀💚🤍🧡
